Why fashion shows? This purpose continues to be a big topic of discussion but interestingly it is discussed more amongst those with little to no interest in fashion. People who are not part of the fashion industry find it difficult to appreciate why events like London Fashion Week are important. They seem such events as frivolous and superficial. While the hefty price tags and minority audience certainly make it an easy target for dismissal but one must understand that not everyone is interested in the same things. And, for the fashion crowd at least, these shows are significant. They not only provide an insight into what we’ll be wearing next season but they also serve as a reflection of modern society. And therefore, fashion week is revered as an increasingly important part of popular culture just like its counterparts in music, art and film. What is London Fashion Week?
It’s an important, six-day industry event that allows designers to show their collections to buyers. It was first established in the 1960s heyday of Biba and Mary Quant. And, to top it all, not forget to mention that the fashion sector plays a significant role in the UK economy with London Fashion Week alone estimated to make £269 million each season. Some designs often witnessed on the runway may have the extreme look and might not be that wearable but, whether you’re a certified fashion tracker or not, they serve to inform clothing across the board. The city maintains the status as a top fashion capital. The high street is very much influenced by what it sees at London Fashion Week. Fashion displayed there is to be interpreted and serve as inspiration. The high-end fashion is categorically for anyone and everyone. The UK's fashion showcase is held in the capital twice a year, once in spring season and the other in autumn season with designers presenting their collections. With the front row the place to see and be seen, British favourites like Vivienne West wood, Burberry and McQueen constantly reinvent how we see style. Spring LFW showcased a variety of pretty beautifying dresses which included from feminine floral and pretty embroidery to bold stripes and frilled ruffles; you don't have to spend a fortune to get the look from the designers. Pink and red were the main star attracting colours of the British Fashion trend. And ‘refresh’ is exactly the right word for what’s happening this spring, from instant-ready skin, perky, pinch-your-cheeks makeup and lustrous hair tones. Also don’t forget to add in a few luxurious accents, from glossed up bronzy limbs to cool metallic ombre nails and luminising booster drops.
