This summer, makeup and beauty took a colourful turn. Colours took centre stage on the eyes and the lips, with bright red pouts, glistening glitter and electric hues on the eyes all spotted backstage. Nails and skin were pared-down but incredibly chic, with the words 'athletic' and 'radiant' constantly springing to mind. The most important while following makeup trends; pick ones that defines your personality. It's no longer about strictly adhering to a fixed set of trends; it's all about playing with what you've got. The most prominent makeup and beauty looks for Spring/Summer 2017 are as follows. 1. Clean Skin Keeping the originality intact and flaunting the clear skin is elegant and equally desirable. The "no make-up" look isn't exactly new backstage, but there's no denying it's having a moment all over again. Use a little makeup only to cover marks or blemishes, and only the subtlest tweaks will do wonders. 2. Braids are in
Skinny braids sported by models in pretty hippy look appeared in countless forms on the spring/summer 2017 catwalks. In a romantic mood! Try Valentino's fairy-tale-length braids. Love to be a tomboy? Dior's plaited buns should do the trick. For your everyday looks you can rely on lovely braided hair styles. 3. Smudgy Eye Forget the classic smoky - next season is all about the smudgy eye. Messy shadow colour inspired by cigarette ash gives the bold look. Apply a thick streak of black eye liner; it is applied to give a "late night, early morning" feel. In other words, don't worry about drawing a neat line. 4. Beauty and Glitter There was no shortage of shimmer on the catwalk in any of the fashion weeks held during the year. Dramatic glitter lips, glitter cuticles, glitter shapes on models' faces and glitter eye shadow were seen throughout highly experimented by the makeup artists. Spring, it seems, will be a sparkly affair. 5. Unexpected Colour Yellow eyebrows were seen at Gucci. Yes, your eyes weren't deceiving you - and they came in lilac, peach and white too. Lip colours like acid-bright orange, pink and red, mushroom purple and eyelids in glossy violet, aquamarine and tangerine hues are no longer weird shades to wear. 6. Lipstick used as Blush Lipstick used in place of blush. A rosy glow was present in all four fashion cities. Two or more shades of lipstick can be mixed to create a warm blush. 7. Focus Point: Ears With the explosion of enormous earrings onto the fashion scene, it was inevitable that ears got paid some attention too. Tuck the hairs behind the ears and adorn them with an intricate clip just in line with the lobe. It’s time to get the piercing. 8. Nude Lips. Nude lips are the beauty style statement of our time. They’ve officially transcended from a trend into a new classic. Originally applied to downplay the rest of the face when a dramatic smoky eye, lengthy lashes or a major blush moment took centre stage, they’ve now officially stolen the spotlight. 9. Nail Art – Modern metallic When worn over a neutral lacquer, simple silver line is a refined way to pull off the precious metal manicure. Nude shades with silver and golden manicures are in trend. Bold and pop colours are a big yes when travelling.
